Every year, the National Book Store Foundation, Inc. launches Project Aral. The campaign is meant to give public school kids across the country their own sets of school supplies. NBS patrons/shoppers donate a certain amount of money to buy notebooks, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and slippers when they do their back to school shopping. It’s a way to give back to the young generation – our country’s future leaders and innovators.
How to Donate for Project Aral
For only P30, you can donate a kit that has 2 notebooks, 2 pencils, a sharpener, and an eraser; while the P60 kit has the same contents + a pair of slippers.
Investing in the future
When we give back to the youth, especially for their education, it impacts our investment in our country’s future. Education is one of the most crucial sectors that must be helped in the Philippines.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) released a study in November 2018 noting that Filipino families are “most deprived” in education. In its release entitled, “Filipino Families Are Most Deprived in Education” PSA noted that “six out of 10 families in 2016 and five out of 10 families in 2017 were deprived of basic education” and that “six out of 10 families had at least one family member aged 18 years old and above who did not complete basic education in 2016 and five out of 10 in 2017.” – sourced from news.mb.com.ph
This makes Project Aral a key enabler in encouraging more students to enroll and finish basic education by providing them with the educational tools they need.
Good thing Project Aral kits are making their way to students across the country. Here’s a look at the latest turnover at the Rivera Village Elementary School in Pasay City!
Project Aral kits are still available in the Back to School Zone of all NBS branches nationwide. Special thanks to the National Book Store Foundation, Inc. Follow us on Instagram @nationalbookstore, and on Twitter, Viber, and YouTube @nbsalert. #ProjectAral#NBSnews
