All Your FAQs About the Read Out Loud Challenge Answered!

As of now, we’ve passed 1,300 videos for the Read Out Loud Challenge! Lots of people have done it, but we’ve  still got a long way to go.

Here are the answers to all your FAQs!

What is the ROLC about?

The ROLC is an advocacy campaign by NBS to promote the love for reading and share it with thousands of Filipino children. For every 75 videos uploaded, the NBS Foundation will set up a library in a public school. The goal is to have 7,500 videos or more, and set up 100 school libraries! You can learn more about it here.

How can I do it?

Doing the ROLC is easy! Just pick a line from your favorite book, record a video of yourself reading it out loud, tag 3 or more friends, and then upload it on Facebook or Instagram. Make sure it’s visible to the public and use hashtag #ReadOutLoudChallenge!

How many times can I do it?

Each individual video is counted, so you can take the ROLC as many times as you want!

Who can I tag?

Family, friends, classmates, office mates, or perhaps your favorite authors! Anyone, really.

What books can I read?

You can read any book you want. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a physical book or an e-book.

How will we know how many videos have been uploaded?

We regularly update the number of videos uploaded on our social media – @nbsalert on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.

How will we be updated about the libraries being set up?

Follow the NBS Foundation on Facebook and Instagram to get updates on the school libraries they’ll be setting up!

When is the deadline for this challenge?

There’s  no deadline (yet). Just keep doing the videos until we reach our goal.

What if my video or my profile is not visible to the public?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to count your video if it’s not visible to the public.

Will my video be counted if I upload it on YouTube or Twitter?

Yes! While we recommend uploading it on Facebook and Instagram, we also count videos uploaded on Twitter and YouTube.

If I’m deaf and mute, can I use sign language?

Yes, this challenge is open to anyone who shares the love for reading. You may use sign language instead of reading it out loud.

Do I need to show my face in the video?

No, you don’t! You can just show the book you’re reading, pictures of the characters, or anything else – as long as you are heard reading it out loud!

Can I see how other people have done the ROLC?

You can easily see who else has taken the challenge by checking out the hashtag on Facebook and Twitter. You can also see some below:
