5 Signs You’re A Crazy Rich Asian

Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians trilogy may have concluded with the release of Rich People Problems this year. But that doesn’t mean the antics and adventures of the super wealthy will be stopping anytime soon!

But what exactly makes someone a ‘crazy rich Asian’? Here are 5 signs to watch out for:

1. You don’t bother checking receipts.

Receipts? What receipts? A true crazy rich Asian doesn’t bother checking their receipts. They just keep on shopping, keep on spending, and reap the rewards of their money.

2. You don’t fly commercial.

Premium economy? Business class? No, those won’t do. Whenever you travel – which you do quite frequently – you only do it via your private jet, complete with a bottle (or two) of champagne and a butler ready to attend to your needs.

3. You never, ever wear the same outfit twice.

When you’re at the top of the social ladder, you would never allow yourself to be seen wearing the same clothes more than once. That’s just insane! That’s why you always restock your walk-in closet with new couture.

4. Your house is basically a palace.

Of course, a crazy rich Asian needs to have a crazy expensive home. Several, preferably. You better have properties all across the world: a mansion in Singapore, a rest house in the Hamptons, and a couple of penthouse suites across Europe, for good measure.

5. You mingle with the richest and the classiest.

Birds of the same feather flock together, and crazy rich Asians do too. You must attend all the top-billed and exclusive events, complete with your posse of servants and bodyguards. And even if it’s just your inner circle, the people you interact with should still be on your level.

Are you a Crazy Rich Asian?

It’s okay if you’re not. After all, not everyone can be a jet-setting, empire-running multi-billionaire! That’s what makes Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich trilogy such a great read: it gives us a glimpse of the world of the elite.
